It’s that time of the year again. A time when all food lovers get to stuff their face with delectable treats: Taste of St. Louis! Hooray.
Last year’s Taste of St. Louis seemed to offer limited gluten-free options, but this year Taste and the vendors participating really stepped up their game. Kudos to those who submitted their info on the website ahead of time – it certainly makes our lives easier!
This year, I meant business. I printed out the vendor list and got down to business, mapping out my course of action for the Taste. (Highlighter = business)
While my highlighting may have been bigger than my stomach, I did successfully consume the following foods (and with no ill after-effects, either):
-Stop 1: Chips and queso salsa from Tortillaria – False advertising, apparently. While the Restaurant Row Program said queso, none was to be found. Still good salsa, though.
Stop 2: Pappy’s Smokehouse: – Three fall-off-the-bone ribs plus a vinaigrette coleslaw (which was vegan plus gluten-free). To die for.
Stop 3: French Onion Soup from Bistro 1130. So good, regardless of the fact that it was 85 degrees out. Sorry for breathing onion breath on everyone. I’ll definitely be going back here to check out their gluten-free menu
Stop 4: Chocolate-covered strawberry from Melting Pot. They’re making bank on this – teeny tiny strawberries with some chocolate on top for $1. But, can’t complain – it was a nice sweet bite to finish it off.
If I’d had more stamina or stomach-room, I would have hit up the gluten-free pulled pork and chicken wings area from Bogart’s Smokehouse. There’s always next year…
Until next time.
