Peeps! Let’s talk about Wheat’s End, in Lakeview! It’s fab. It’s 100% gluten-free. Go there!
My friend Liz and I had brunch there a couple weeks back on a beautiful sunny Sunday. I’ve popped in a couple times over the past couple years to pick up goodies to go, but hadn’t physically sat down in the cafe since 2013, when I was just visiting from St. Louis. How has it taken me so long?!
You’re going to want to try all the things, so get ready to carb load. We started with a warm cinnamon roll and coffee from Bridgeport Coffee. I ordered the prosciutto eggs benedict with asparagus. Liz got the open-face bagel sandwich. I twisted her arm and we got a popover with honey butter. Then I ordered a cheddar biscuit to go for “Ken” (aka I made him split it with me later). We passed on the donuts but I hear they are good, too. I rolled outta there a little sugar high and overcaffeinated, but #worthit.
I’d definitely order the benny again. Tbh, I didn’t think the bagel sandwich looked life changing. I prefer fried eggs on my sandwiches and these were more of the scrambled variety. The cinnamon roll was good, but I think I could pass on it next time in favor of MORE BISCUITS.
Bonus – they have nice light for pics. Give me a shout if you have other faves I should try next time!
