Nothing says “summer time” better than root beer floats. And burgers and fries. So I convinced Ken to join me on an adventure to Fitz’s American Grill & Bottleworks in the Delmar Loop. I happened to stumble across their website and learned they had introduced a gluten-free menu since the last time I had eaten there. A quick look revealed it has a great selection of appetizers, sandwiches and burgers and entrees.
Oh boy, was I excited. I was ready to take a gluten-free burger and fries to the dome. ‘Murica!
We hoped to sit on their patio, but it was a little chilly, so we moved inside.
After a cocktail, I ordered the Sasha’s Burger, which is their Bottler’s Burger melted with Swiss Cheese and Sauteed Mushrooms. The best part? It comes with baked fries. Then washed it all down with a Fitz’s Original Root Beer.
The burger was pretty decent. Fries were a little on the soggy side, but I’m awkwardly kind of a fan of soggy fries. Refrain from judgment, please.
I have to confess that I didn’t get a root beer float. Come on, I was trying to be good. But I have gotten one from Fitz’s before and they are a-mazing. And amazingly huge. Of course, I had to have a [few] sips of Ken’s strawberry shake (with real strawberry pieces)!
Thanks for the GF options, Fitz’s! I’ll be back to try out some of your apps [I’m thinking spinach artichoke dip] and another root beer float.
