One must never pass up a sushi opportunity. Especially if it’s in honor of your two best friends’ birthdays.
My twin friends Hannah and Mallory celebrated their 2xth birthday at Mizu Sushi on Washington Avenue. Gluten-free sushi lovers, rejoice – this was by far the easiest sushi experience I’ve had.
Mizu’s sushi menu is clearly marked with GF for the items that are gluten-free. They have more than 80 sushi items on the menu, and at least half of those are gluten-free.
I had the Crazy Roll (Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Avocado, Cucumber with Spicy Mayo) and the Spicy Tuna Roll. The Crazy Roll was DELICIOUS. The Spicy Tuna wasn’t my fave – it was very spicy.
Check out the menus here, and enjoy!
Oh…and then there was this situation – the “Imperial Guard.” According to the menu, “Shrimp Tempura, Avocado, Crab Meat topped with Eel, Japanese Mayo, three different Tobiko and Spicy Sauce with Surprise.” It appears the “Surprise” is “We bring it out on fire.”
Until next time.

I tried Mizu for the first time last week. I have to say I was very impressed. Normally dining out requires some explanation on what gluten is etc but the server was well informed already.
Unfortunately I am very sensitive to cross contamination and also have to avoid the gums (i.e. xanthan, guar etc) and certain distilled vinegars(which is common in sushi). Despite their precautions, something did affect me. That being said the food was delicious and I would highly recommend it to anyone who does not share my sensitivities.

I’m sorry to hear that, Anna! Thank you for the heads up – very good to know.
